Any good Colt 1911 sale sites?

I'm considering getting reacquainted with a Colt 1911 after about 25 years.

Are there any good sites besides Gunbroker where I could get a fair deal? Perhaps where a bunch of good guys (and gals) go to sell their extras?

I live in virginia we have vaguntrader.com. I assume most states have similar sites.

Only problem is used (asking) prices are insane. I have been shopping for a 01991 for months. Finally found one for 825$ shipped from buds. I have not seen any used (even the poor conditioned ones) colt goverments go for under 800$ since ive been watching.

I've been able to get a few deals off of Gunsamerica, and every once in awhile a decent deal shows up.

I have a request with Gun For All out of Arizona for a "stock alert notification" for a Series 70, for which they are currently out of stock. I have never done business with this dealer before, nor purchased a firearm over the Internet for that matter, so have no track record to base their performance on. That said, they have the best prices for Colts that I've been able to find on the Internet.

If anyone else here has any experience with this outfit, I'd love to read some feedback. They did reply to my e-mail inquiry very quickly (within a couple of hours), so I am hopeful that this is indicative of their overall customer service.

Tea i saw them as well. I went through the checkout process (it gave option for credit card #) and then it says sorry out of stock we will otify you etc. and i started to get junk mail from them. I would wager if/when they get in the model you are waiting on it wont be at the price you see listed!

I really hope that's not the case. If they can deliver at the price they have listed, I will be sure to give them a good review here. If they try to bait and switch on me, I'll also be sure to report that here.

Buds is great thats hwere i just got my government 01991 for 825! Ordered wednesday afternoon, shipped 2nd day air (free shipping) on friday. Pretty fast service gun is one of the new "cleansides" and it is head and shoulders above my 3 year old gold gup. Absolutely perfect fit and no scrapping on the dustcover like the goldcup!

im not sure how this is buds being "anti". They dont want to deal with these states and their stupid laws. They probably got burned by mass to many times and figured it wasnt worth it. I think its more a problem of mass. Voters for putting up with the dumb laws

You are Correct, you're not sure, so please let me explain.
Handgun compliance laws fall on the transferring FFL (restricting what they can transfer), there are no handguns that are illegal to own. As for magazine capacity's over 10 rounds and assault rifles that are post AW ban........ yes that is a problem, but easy to navigate around and stay within the law. But places like Buds would prefer to be the henchmen for the anti's instead of just navigating within the law.
And as for putting up with MA laws...........Gun owners are a tiny minority in this state, so no chance of getting them changed. So, thank the good Lord there are GOOD DEALERS out there willing to work with the MA "subjects"......because they ship guns to buyers in MA all the time and they have no problem..........Unlike Buds!

Thanks for the link. I've just registered with Jetguns, too, to receive an update if they get any Series 70s in stock. Now I'm registered with three dealers for notification on the Series 70. Hopefully one of them will get one in soon or I'm going to go bananas. I don't think I could wait months, which is what a lot of folk are saying is the current wait time.

you know Colt's really took a resurgence with the whole 1911 2011 thing, I guess this is why new and used Colt's sell for 1000-1200 while a used Kimber can not be given away for 500. LOL

Man I really wish I lived in a "free state " I would love to see a Colt series 70 or gold cup national match in my safe, but the more I look. The more I get discouraged. I know I could move but I have school age children and the wife put an end to that. I guess I will have to settle on gun porn on sites like this

That's good news for me in a way, since Colt told me that they are alternating production of the Series 70 on a monthly basis between stainless and blued. I much prefer blued or parked over stainless, so if you got a stainless last month, maybe I'll get a blued one this month. I'm going to go say a prayer to St. Brigid tonight before I go to bed (St. Brigid is derived from the Celtic goddess Brigid, goddess of fire, smithing and poetry - the three things that go into a good firearm).
