Colt MK IV Series 80 Mod Suggestions

I have had this government model for over a year bought used and looking for stuff to do to it. I just bought some hough grips which don't fit so now I'm weary of buying other stuff if it don't fit. I would post pics of gun but can't link them from my phone. It has black silver coin colt grips, stock trigger, sights, hammer, Wilson extended clip, etc.... Any suggestions or sites that carry this guns parts? Thanks guys.

For starters, why don't the Hogue grips fit? Did you mistakenly buy ones meant for an Officers ACP?

The Series 80 Government Model is a standard full size, 5" 1911 in most respects. However there have been different versions released over the years, some with different sights, grips, hammers, triggers, et cetera. Without knowing what version you have or the vintage I can't tell you what replacement sights will fit, for example.

Try not to fall into the common trap of wanting to replace everything on your new 1911 just to make it "better". Know what you're changing out, and why. You may spend a lot of money fixing things that weren't broken to begin with. Shoot it for at least 500 rounds, then decide what you don't like and want improved. Vintage 1911's should NEVER be refinished or modified because it ruins any value they had as a collectible firearm.
