SIG 1911 TACPAC anyone have one?

Anyone have one? Any good? It feels rough, but nice in the hand. The rail version has two mags, holster, and a CPL-1 Compact pistol laser. I really like Crimson Trace lasers. Is this laser any good?

Can't comment on the rail version or the laser it comes with, but my standard Tacpac gun is the Cats MeWow! Never hiccuped from day one. I would assume a "Free" laser is worth every penny But the gun,and the magazines are top notch. I've seen the railed version as low as $730!

Yup!

I have one. With the rail and laser. I got it in CT for $770 out the door. Just shot it today and it ate up about 170 rounds of some tula and speer lawman without any problems. didn't get to try the laser yet since the holster won't work with it on. This is my first 1911 and I must say I think I chose the perfect one. I did throw one a set of the Mako grips with an intergrated magwell. the makos worked awesome; an awesome pickup for $20. I've been a glock man for years, but I'm starting to like the 1911. Sig has done an amazing and affordable job.

My son is a deputy sheriff and he bought one recently. He's been very impressed with overall fit and finish, and accuracy and reliability have been outstanding. We've shot it with ball, lead SWC and various hollowpoints, probably about 500 rounds total, with no malfunctions. I'm not a big fan of lasers, but the one that came with the gun seems to work well. We've probably fired about 100 rounds with it. All in all, I'd say it's a heck of a package for the price.

I have not heard about them coming with a laser. That is a great deal.

Just so their in no confusion- the TacPac is not the TacOps pistol. The TacPac has an XO, which has no night sights, magwell or ambi safety, and some accessories. We have a lengthy thread about this somewhere on here.

TACPAC

I do not care about the night sights (comes with free SIG laser), magwell or ambi safety. The pistol feels nice. The SIG laser feels like a China model or I am spoiled by Crimson Trace

The XO, TACPAC, and TACOPS seem like the same base gun to me.

Yup. Sights and doodads is the only difference.

The older XO black guns had a different finish and were not available with a rail (or was it w/o a rail?). In any case all the base government size guns are now the same base gun.

I have the Tacpac. I love the gun. The laser (at least mine, calling Sig tomorrow) is a let down. I put the battery in, put the gun in the safe. Next day the laser was not working. I assumed i left it on. I went to the store and no one (wal-mart, other box stores had the battery) I finally found it at Radio Shack, $13.99 plus tax. Put that in last night got up this morning and dead. Makes me think there is flaw with the laser.

The gun is amazing though!

Heres mine with the Sig CPL laser. My local dealer let me have it for 1/3 of the cost that Sig wants. I've had it on and off the pistol several times and it seems to hold its zero with no problem. I've had one battery in it for over three months and is still just as bright as it was when I got it and I've used it plenty.

My overall opinion on the laser is this -

For the price I paid I could not have found one any better. However I will say that it's useless in bright outdoor light but the compact size, weight, and fit is great.

Congrats on the TACPAC. I have the non-railed XO TACPAC and love it.

The SIG 1911's are fine machines.

Laser

I like my TACPAC 1911. The free SIG laser is just a cheap China type I think My SIG lover coworker calls the SIG lasers junk.

Crimson Trace (CTC) makes a real useful grip laser if you want one made in the USA. I used my first one in the military on my last combat tour. I now have 5

The Sig Sauer TacPac Comes with the Nitron Pistol with or without the rail. The CPL-1 laser is about 120.00 on the sig webpage. All the new Sig Sauer 1911 pistols are basicly the same except for the external features like grips, safety, finish etc. Such as the Nitron pistol that comes in the tacpac is the same as the Tac Ops except for the magwell, safety, night sights, and or without the threaded barrel. I personally have the 1911 Nitron with rail, an its shoots straight. Mine was selling at Academy for 799.99 + Tax= 848.00

I bought my TacPac from BudsGunShop for $749, which oddly, makes it the cheapest new Sig I've ever bought, who would have thought the 1911 would be the least costly!

My laser was DOA, Sig gave me an RMA number, will be sending it back. It also looked like the laser had been previously used.

The Gun on the other hand is awesome. I changed out the grips, but there is nothing really wrong with the ones supplied.
The sights aren't great either but $119 at the Sig Custom shop fixes that.

Even If I send mine away for night sights, its vastly cheaper than the rrp and therefore the gunstore price of even the current basic models.

I've no idea why the TacPac is such a good deal but it is, buy one!

Sportsmans Supply has quite a few on GB right now. I just bought mine for 715. They seem to be ranging from 680-720 on the penny auctions. SS also doesn't charge credit/debit card 3% like others and the shipping was only 15. I thought it was a fair deal.

This is my first Sig and first 1911. I've been reading a lot on this forum, it provides a wealth of knowledge.

Only things I want to change right away is add a Magwell and maybe change grips. Way too many choices on those items. Wondering out loud which magwell is the best fit (color and shape)?
