Rock Island Tactical 2011

I picked up my new Rock Tac 2011 today.

According to Magnus It was the first 2011 sold and shipped.

I just had time to clean her up and hope to get her to the range in the next couple of days.

Enjoy

Looks awesome! LOVE Tru dot sights btw. Have some on my CZ and they make the Trujicons on my 1911 look like crap. Do you know if they make that in a 9mm?

Thanks BigAm.

This is the first full rail model from Rock Island and as far as I know there is no plans for a 9mm. But you never know.

Hmmm...I really want one in 9mm! Love the full length look, and I know id love how little felt recoil that would have in 9mm. Looking forward to a range report!

Where did you pick it up from? The only place I know thats selling them is Centerfire Systems. BTW, I am soooo jealous. That will definitely be my next Rock, if not the 6" version. There was only one that that turned me off the longslide 2011, but its cosmetic and hopefully I can get past it.

Very nice.... Keep us posted. Love the sites.
Is this like a trophy match. Price seems a little high for a rail. Is there something I am missing?

My understanding is that is like the match pistols.

It is lowest price full rail that I have seen. The lowest, other than the Rock, is a used Springer without all of the options of a Rock for $1,200.00.

I wonder if they will be offering those sights for sale by themselves,so I can put them on my Tactical without a lot of fitting?

Awesome!

The Rock is movin on up. Looks awesome! And I like the grips too.
I would really like to see it with a Surefire rail light and so on.

Here's my wish list for RIA.

1.Please make it also available in 9mm.
2.Also available in LS
3.Two tone model
4.A hicap model
5.Make the sights available for the rest of us.

I tried to get on their list as well, but they told me they were not keeping a list and I should just call back. Who did you speak with there to be put on a list?

Thank you.

Not really a list but they will take your name and contact info. Once that is done then they put a note in your profile that will alert them to call you once the product is in stock.

Are they going to make the full railed lonslide? I was told that they had no plans to do so.

From what Ivan told me the Longslide version of the rail gun was a one off just for the SHOT Show!! It belongs to Martin, the owner of Armscor!!

It would sell like crazy if they were to offer it.

Is the rear sight cut the same as the regular Tactical or did they actually go with something closer to Novak dimensions???

I am taking the new Tac to the range this weekend and will do a more detailed post on the gun after that trip.

Caveat: That is if I don't have to work this weekend.

I'm not big on Rail Guns, but it is tastfully done. Now they need to put those sight on the regular Tac models...I like.

Addtional Information on My New Tac 2011

I have a lot of new pic's of my 2011 and wanted to post them.

Keep in mind that the comments below are mine only and that I am in no way a professional I am only a guy that likes 1911's and Rock Island 1911's in particular. Please take everything I say with a large grain of salt.

This is a pic of the grip end of the gun with the typical Rock ambi safety which really has a tactical feel in being very thin. This pic also shows the slide stop which is checkered and the standard mag release which is not. I think that Centerfire says that the mag release is checkered.

The rail

The nonadjustable trigger which design was originally used on the Medallion series of guns from Armscor and later used on the Charles Daly. And now on the Citadel.

A pic of the fit of the beavertail, which is good not excellent but good.

The other side of the ambi safety, that is not rust but oil that caught the light wrong. I want to say I really like the feel of the Rock Island ambi safety the size and the fit is really well done. But the done gone safety is a bear to get a part.

The now standard barrel hood, not sure why Rock Island now does this? Does not really bother me but IMHO not really necessary.

The Meprolight rear night sight:

The Meprolight front night sight, you can see here that the sight was not blended with the slide:
