Price Check! Colt Defender 45 ACP

What's everyone paying for these? Anyone know of where to buy one online for less than $825, that has one in stock?

Even many of those asking more than $900 do not have any in stock. Gunsamerica lists a few sellers below $800, but one never knows if they really have any in stock.

I would say yes, if it is in great shape.

Around here, in the Dallas area, the gun shops I visit (which are by no means all) have them from $950 to $1,000. I've never seen a new one for less than $900.

It's strange, because all the gun shops here seem to have higher prices than some of you mention in other areas of the country. The one place that seems to be consistent is Academy Sports, because I guess they use national pricing...but they never have any Colts.

There's a huge dealer out of the Houston area that comes to our local gun show every month and sells Defenders for $835. I've never seen anyone else local get within $100 of that price.

If you can find one, a straight-up Defender is going for $900 in the local gun shops here, more for the Talo stuff. I haven't seen any locally in a while, occasionally a used one comes up for $800 or so.

I've a Talo Night Defender and I wouldn't sell it for less than a ridiculous price since I'd just go buy another one.

head000 $700 is an awesome price if the gun is in good shape.

If you want $825 gunbroker is probably your best bet.

Good luck.

Down here in the SW they are a $900+ something new after taxes from every store I have seen them in recently. Used ones vary and I have seen them and other small .45s at good prices at ranges that do CCW training. Usually slightly used with a holster and an extra mag. I missed a Defender in this condition about three years ago for about $550; almost new, but it had been dropped on the floor, so a blemish. I thought about it overnight thus missed it. I did pick up a Glock 36 at the range a couple months later for $450. At least the person didn't drop it before deciding it was not the gun they wanted to carry.

They seem to range from $850-$950. Lately it seems like $950. Maybe for the 100 year mark or something?

Colt's are stupid high here in East TN. Defenders in the $950+ range when people have them in stock. A local shop has a Special Combat Competition for over $2200. The gun shows vendors are on crack for the used Colts. If I could actually get some of the prices they are asking, I would be tempted to sell some of mine (not).

Regards,

Chuck

Could I have some more info on the dealer and what gun show it is? I bought my wife a Defender last month for $1050 + tax down in Houston and now I'm wanting one myself! She loves that gun and I would like one to conceal, I like shooting it better than my lightweight Commander. I would drive to Austin if it saves me $300+ any day of the week!

Love to see a two year old post come back to life. This started back in 2011 - With todays gun law 'scare' If you find a colt in stock and you like it... get it before the Nut behind you in line gets it...
