bullet casting for RIA?

I received some casting equipment for christmas and will start casting bullets for the RIA that I will be getting and was wondering if anyone shoots cast bullets through their RIA 1911s. If so what bullet dia are you using .451 or .452? I still need to get the bullet mold and sizer so I wanted to get the most appropriate one thanks.

As for my future RIA I haven't decided on the Match or Tactical model yet, decisions decisions...

Don't have a RI, but generally for all 45's, .451 is FMJ/JHP and .452 is lead bullets.

Good info!

I'm thinking about doing this as well. I love shooting lead round nose!

Rock on

just another question about what type of bullet, would I have more trouble feeding the lswc over the ball ammo? or does this all come down to oal and other typical loading variables?

taper crimp

I have a AMT. hardballer that i have shot a couple thousand rounds through. I polished the feed ramp and use a taper crimp and have had no problems. The AMT is stainless so I lube with lithium grease [very sparingly] and be sure to taper crimp. I used to cast using .452s, but now I use the Lazer cast bullets from Oregon Bullet Co. By the way the ones that I use are the 200 gr. semi wad cutter.
