New PM 7 .45

Just started DROS on a NIB PM 7 .45, so the 10 day jail time just started, very excited with the gun, did I make a good decision?

Horrible decision! You should sell it to me right now. (So I can have two.)

Welcome!

Nope...you made a great decision. Of my three .45 ACP's the pointman is my favorite.

Nice pick up there! You know that we expect a rather picture heavy thread when you actually spring her from jail, right?
Congrats!

Got it home, Oh man, this thing had a tight fitted between the slide and the frame, I was racking it open all the way when demonstrating the safety to the FFL and it almost wants to stay open when I racked it all the way, this is my first Dan Wesson so I did not know what to expect, can't wait to try it out at the shooting range!

Lube liberally with something like FP10, rack the slide 100 times, wipe down relube liberally. Make sure to take some lube with you to the range at least the first time or three. Lube rails prior to shooting, shoot a couple magazines, add a couple drops of oil to the rails, repeat.

Yes, I know it sounds like a lot of lube, but lube is cheap compared to sending it back to the factory for fixing. After a bit (most people use 500 rounds as a number), you can cut back on the lube. Call it a break in, call it a "final mating of the surfaces under live fire", call it "just another piece of 1911 fantasy and lore", but the folks here that have roughly that have not experienced any problems. Of course, there is no way to tell what would have happened if they hadn't done that.

Just enjoy the crap out of shooting it.

PM7's have always been the sleeper of the line. Good choice.

In California, we can only buy the PM7 45 and the Classic 45 (CBOB), if not I would have bought every 1911's that Dan Wesson makes.

Nice pistol! And nice photos. Some of those phone cameras do a suprisingly nice job. I got a PM-7 in 10mm and it runs like a watch. It's more accurate than I'll ever be and it's never given me any trouble. Honestly, I'm not fond of the FCS but that would be nit-picking. I just prefer a clean looking slide. I've thought about trading it a few times, but all i have to do is shoot it and those thoughts evaporate. Enjoy your great pistol!

That's one of my crits, too. Also, if it didn't have the full length guide rod, it would be perfect! I love my PM7.

DW's in CA?

Why is it you can only own PM7 in CA?

What is the 10 day jail time all about?

Maybe I'm spoiled being in SC, we walk in the gun shop, pick it out, and 10 mins later you're armed in the parking lot.

I just bought a PM7 in .40, LUV IT!

Enjoy! ;-)

Only 2 Dan wesson models are available in the California Roster one is a PM 7 .45 and the other is a CBOB .45 check here (http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/), when you buy a Handgun or a Rifle there is a 10 day waiting time before you will be able to bring it home, that is why we call it jail time, I know it sucks and you are allowed to buy one handgun once every 30 days only, that is California gun law!

Yikes, sounds like a different country!

There are some restrictions on AR builds too, huh?

There is also a 10 day waiting period for rifles, but you can buy as many as you can afford, no 30 day limit, but there are a lot of B.S. rules like: it has to be a fix Mag, detachable Mag are illegal (bullet button is needed to be legal), a rifle have to be a minimum of 31 inches long with the butt stock collapse, minimum length of the barrel is 16 inches if not it will be classified as an assault rifle, just a few rules that I can think off and there are a lot more rules.
