I just used Google. I have been interested in gunsmithing on the 1911 platform and have been reading posts from users for about a year now. Thought it was time to join, glad to be part of the team.

The name says it all!
I've been diving into the internet finding out all I can about 1911's. Where else would you go than a 1911 forum
. This site is pretty sweet, I'm feeling at home here already! Thanks.

how did I get here???
Doing research on various models of Kimber and Dan Wesson, seems to be lots of good "no BS" (well almost none) information here.

New to 1911.
I found your site in a couple of ways. One: by word of mouth. Two: internet search of 1911 reviews.
I am new to the 1911 and am looking to purchase a New Colt.

I qualified with 1911’s in the military, but never owned one. I decided I needed a 1911 for the 100th anniversary, so I started researching different manufacturers and looking for reviews. This site came up over and over on Google. After researching here and other sites and handling several at gun stores, I bought a Dan Wesson Valor and then joined the forum.

Pretty much a noob looking for info on my next purchase. Currently own a Glock 17 as my first gun due to ease of use and wife liked shooting it, have had for about 2 years now. Been looking for a second gun, more for myself, and after shooting a couple 1911's I thought that was what I was looking for.
Found this forum thru google and found it very informative, interesting and entertaining. Will be posting my inquiry on entry level 1911's in the near future, after scouring the forums first. thank you |

RE: How did you find us ?
After have carried/shot old (and I mean OLD) military 1911s back in the late 70s/early 80s, and having been underwhelmed by a S&W 645 back in the mid 80s, I finally purchased a Kimber Super Carry Pro. Last range day, had occasional FTF problem with first round out of the magazine (KimPro Tac-Mags) when using slide release. Did a search and found this site. Decided to join.

Blame it on my wife....
Oddly enough, my wife found this forum.........not me.
She recently bid on an auction for an authentic WW II 1911 shoulder holster (for me) at an online auction and won it. While looking at other WW II .45 acp holsters she asked me about the difference between "mounted" and "dismounted" holster and I had no clue. She's the queen of internet searches and found the answer here. Thinking I'd like this forum (she knows me so well) she sent me the link. |

Just lucky I guess. I had found the sig forum several years ago and peeked to the 1911 forum but finally decided to join for both the basic 1911 and the kimber part. Thanks for a great forum.

Searching the Web for Sig Sauer Tac Ops front sight
I recently purchased my first 1911 since the old Army days (can't even remember which war, guess I'm getting old). Anyway I have several Sigs and the sights , Novak, on this one just don't work well for these eyes. I'm looking for a front sight and I have checked tons of options. The only one who came close was Dawson Percision, but they only had heights for .23 and .24. The Tac Ops has .2340. The one they sent me (.24), but shoots too high to get comfortable. Any help out there?
