New to Kimber

Hello everyone, My handle is Thicker and I just bought a new Kimber Ultra Carry ll Stainless. I love the looks of this weapon and the 50 rounds I have fired thru it ,so far, were as smooth as silk.
Back in my military days I carried the standard issue 1911- 45 and got to the point where it was second nature to have it on me. My new Ultra is going to be my EDC once it is broken in (500 or so rounds).
My only regret is that I wish that I would purchased night sights when ordering. I have a set of white dot fixed ,coming from the Kimber Store, that will serve the purpose until I get laser grips or night sights. Does anyone know the going rate for installing these sights?
Thanks for your time.....

I sent my UCII to the Kimber Custom Shop for Kimbers night sights. They give quick service and a good price.
All you would have to send is your slide, not sending the frame it's just not a firearm, so you won't have to deal with a bunch of problems. Just call it a steel tool and insure it for full value.

"Does anyone know the going rate for installing these sights?"

I think you missed the question... He's looking for a $$ amount.

I only mention this cause i am interested also.. Just guessing... but the night sights cost around $90.00... not sure what Kimber will charge for their labor.

I have heard that they do need to go back to Kimber to have that done, and that the turnaround time is about a week.
Good luck.

I would call the Kimber Custom shop and get the correct pricing.

I found a set for $80 for my PC2 and a local smith charged $30 to install. That beats paying $65 to ship the gun.

My local smith gets $35 if you buy the sights from him.

Congrats! I recently bought the exact same gun. Mine doesn't have night sights either. It was the only way I could find a Stainless UCII. I've been thinking about getting some 3 dots because I'm probably going to put a CT on mine too.

I put Houge finger grooves on it as soon as I got it. I wish the frontstrap was checkered. These grips feel really good.

All you need to send is the slide and that won't cost $65 even with some insurance. Unless your Smith has worked with a Kimbers slides installing sights, I sure would not trust them.

Yeah, you can send the slide for cheap from your local Post Office. It's around $17-$18 insured for the cost of the gun if I remember right.

laser

It seems with the cost of the night sights you might be about half of the
way there to some laser grips.

Thanks

Thanks everyone for the info.....I took the Kimber to the local gun-shop and had the white dot sights installed. They did it for me overnight and charged me $35.00.
It is a great help for these old eyes when taking aim to use the dot system. I will in the near future get a set of Crimson Trace for it..
Thanks again good people.....
