Custom STI Guns

I am in the market for an STI Edge and I'd like to see what is available out there as far as custom guns go. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what companies I should look at that produce a decent customized Edge?

Thanks

Thanks for the info.

I've now been to the Dawson site and Brazo's. It looks like Dawson is just selecting some standard available options and then tuning the gun. Brazo's is doing some custom slide work in addition to the other stuff and is more in line with what I was looking for - something customized. I don't want the same thing that 10 other guys at the range have. I want something good but, at the same time, different. If that makes any sense.

Are there any other companies out there that anyone would recommend checking out? Has anyone purchased any of these customized weapons? If you don't wish to make comments on an open forum, pm me.

Thanks

THere are several excellent gunsmiths that can customize an STI anyway you want it. Are you wanting to buy the gun already customized or ship a stock STI to a smith?

Although I wouldn't mind having one, SVIs are a little out of my price range (aren't they like $4ooo+ for a nice limited gun?) and I am unwilling to wait a year to get one. The wait times in this industry be it custom holsters or custom guns is crazy.

My gun came in several hundred under $4000 and the wait time was only about twelve weeks, of course Brandon expidited the work, because I paid cash in advance. Also, check out their stocking dealers like http://www.speedshooter.com/category_list.cfm?ID=PI

You may want to check out the Brian Enos forums for good deals on used variants of what you're seeking. Most smiths will have some sort of wait involved, whereas you can get a really nice used gun for much less. I just sold a gun that looked like an Edge but custom built by EGW for a quite attractive price.

Thanks for everyone's input.

I ordered a custom gun from Mike at Thunder Mountain and can't wait to get my hands on it.

As someone who has exclusively been shooting glocks for the past 10 years it is going to be a huge change for me. I hope I can do the new gun a little justice.

I kind of like mine. It was made by Shaun Hopkins who works for Progressive Machine.

I agree, Benny's guns are first class, best trigger job on the market, and run 100%.

Sti

Try shootersstationonline.com in Conroe Teas. They always have a wide selection of STI. If they don't have it in stock, they will order for you and they have great prices.

Matt Cheely builds some very nice builds. I got a deal on a SV Infinity I couldn't pass up. Now I just need a ICE magwell cheap if anyone has one they want to get rid of.

Most STI's are Production guns w/ build qualities nearing the semi production gun build qualities of a Baer, etc.. Not that of a Baer or Wilson but much better than typical production.

If you want a custom gun from STI, you will want to contact their Custom Shop.

If you want a BIG step up from a production class firearm take a look at a Baer, Wilson, or SVI.
