Any info on this gun? I seem to find very very little info on it at all out there. One post here from back in '06 before they shipped then nothing.

Not familiar with a Champ with the 3" barrel. My Champ has the 4" barrel and I really love the Champ I have. I had the Ultra Carry with the 3.5" barrel and it was a very reliable and accurate pistol also.

Sorry, I couldn't help with the 3" Champ !

In "Springfield speak", being a Champion means a 4" barrel. I think you're referring to the Micro Compact Operator (the "other MC Op) that was offered for a short while a few years back. Don't klnow much about it, but I personally won't trust a 1911 less than 41/4 myself. Good luck.

Springfield Armory Blue 7 + 1 Round Champion Operator w/3" Barrel/Accessory Rail (32594)

The Operator model pistol is the only pistol offered by a major 1911 manufacturer having a light mounting rail forged directly into the pistol frame. The standardized Picatinny mounting platform readily receives the most popular whitelight, infrared and laser illuminating devices used by US military Spec-Ops and law enforcement SWAT teams. This fully adjustable, extreme duty firearm is truly the best of the best.

Type: Pistol Action: Single / Double Caliber: 45 ACP Barrel Length: 3" Capacity: 7 + 1 Safety: Grips: Cocobolo Wood Sights: Fixed Weight: 29 oz Finish: Blue

I can't add much about the gun, but I can add to the confusion. You may have to call Springfield to confirm, but me thinks all the references to 3" barrel may be incorrect.

I think you're on the right track, which was also my thought as well as springfields. Someone entered info incorrectly- it's a 3" rail with a 4" barrel. But when you call the co. they say the info shows a 3" barrel! So who knows. Will let ya know if I find out more on this. Just kind of interesting I suppose.
