It was supposed to be this month, but according to a member here who spoke to the custom shop there is an additional delay of a few months due to the black t coating backlog

Hahahaaa.... No doubt huh! Well...I did a direct LE order and that still put me at 19 months and running. So guys out there don't think being LE amounts to anything other than saving a few dollars eliminating a middle man. DAMN...it truly is an SA conspiracy. Since I've been waiting (long time) I bought a lw champ op. And am looking for a micro compact and mc operator. These guys are scandalous at sucking you in....hahahhahhhhaa.

I had been planning to remove it from the auction after this run ended (not just a marketing technique). I'm not really a collector of firearms, and I feel uncomfortable shooting this one after it was de-authorized, understanding its value. It's an unusual situation. If they were authorized on Monday, I'd carry it on duty. In short, I have the best pistol ever authorized by DEA, and I can't carry it anymore! I was sure proud of it when I could carry it; I was equally dissappointed when I learned that I had to put it away. There are bosses who want it, and bosses who don't understand it. That's the short version. (I don't think the capabilities of the pistol had too much to do with the decision.)

After I ordered the pistol, I bought a beater Colt 1991A1 and practiced with the safety and slide stop lever, changing magazines, and shooting the 1991 (breaking in the holster, too), so that I would be prepared to use and reduce needless wear on the SA Pro. On our qualification course, the ability to quickly change magazines can certainly enhance your score. I qualified with the pistol five times, consistently shooting the highest scores I've ever turned in. (3X100%)

It was really no more complicated than that. When the Chief of the Firearms Training Unit changed, the program died. The new Chief became convinced by others that it was too different compared to other accepted other platforms and didn't get behind it. He is a great guy and a great agent. I worked side-by-side with him on numerous investigations. I feel like we have more of a firearms culture in DEA than you will find in other Federal Agencies, but he just wasn't a big "gun guy" and decided against it.

In the 1970's, when 2" Smith and Wesson Model 10's were issued, Agent Trainees conducted familiarization fire with Colt Commanders at the DEA Academy and were urged by Range Instructors to purchase them individually upon graduation. There were a high percentage of Agents carrying Single Action 1911's and others carrying single action Browning Hi-Powers.

Congrats Chevy, I see the DEA gun sold for $8900. At least now we have a benchmark of what these rare serial # guns are worth!
