I have an ambi on my carry gun and don't like it being exposed and bumping the seat belt. I want to go with a strong side safety and have these preferences:
1) extended length
2) low profile (rides tight to frame and isn't really thick)
3) textured - prefer serrated but checkered would be ok too
4) stainless steel
I just did a gun with the same requirements and used the Wilson BulletProof part. Fit was fine, but it did have a couple of sharp edges that had to be reworked. Had it been a blued part (thus trashing the bluing in re-working) I would have been annoyed.
It's not extended but the old GI safety would be my first choice, soon as Midway gets it in it goes on my SR1911 CMD. Then I won't have any competition safetys on any of my 1911s.
