I have a black plexi (not the best material) bushing wrench that I made. I've been using it for 10 years. It's about 2 1/2" x 3" square. Works great and holds the plunger in place.
I haven't ever thought about making one. I have quite a few of them now. Some that came with guns, some I bought. The last time I bought one it was 4 bucks from Springfield.
why? Seems like it's more trouble than it's worth, and most 1911s I've gotten recently have come with one. And if you take the whole slide off first, you don't need one
Next one I make will be a relatively large diameter round one. There's a commercial version available (Rainier Arms, shown below) for the workshop challenged.
Too easy. Will clean up fine w/a little detailing w/needle files. I'd be glad to just buy one from Rainier but after shipping it's over $15.00- shipping is more than the tool.
