Finding available parts isn't always easy
Nowadays the internet is a great source for all kinds of things, from parts to information on all kinds of subjects. Well I had an interesting experience recently I wanted to share.
Having an old SA 1911 I decided it needed a new barrel. Was never happy with its accuracy and since it was worked over pretty well when I bought it I don't really know how many rounds were through it. Tried a Dwyers Group Gripper, remember those the one with the flgr and specially shaped link that locked up on a spring in the end of the rod to put pressure on the barrel lugs. Well long story short I found a Barsto barrel on the Cylinder and Slide sight, ordered it along with one of their thumb safeties. Got the safety but no barrel, just a note saying they didn't carry it anymore. No adjustment to freight cost, no notice before shipping, simply just not available. Well that prompted a call from me naturally, get the lad on the phone to complain and he simply says if you don't want it send it back, to which I reply why don't they update their site if it is no longer available. He says we don't carry HI-Power barrels anymore, then I say it was for a government model 1911, he replies all I have are 2 semi-fit barrels........ Thats what I ordered ! Well he took my info and accepted payment over the phone for it and shipped it out for no additional freight...must have been a Friday right before closing when I placed my order, no phone call no barrel. Just goes to confirm the squeaky wheel gets the grease... now I am happy... By the way, made it to the range and it shot great. |
