1911 Hammer identification
hello,
Can ayone of you knowlegdeable guys tell me who made this hammer and if it was military? It is marked with a C on one side and an M and a D on the other side, thanx guys, Mark ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It looks like a post WWII Colt military contract parts hammer. The stamps are consistent with Colt's use, and it's not commercial.

Looks military to me, but I cant find it in the USGI identification book.
Might be from a non-US mitary country, prototype, rare gun,etc... I dunno.....it is something strange though. Guarantee if you put your post here, these guys will have an answer for you pretty quick http://forums.1911forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=30
