Travel Suggestions Denver to WY & SD

Driving from Denver to Mt. Rushmore SD and then to Devils Tower, WY.
Where to stop, where to stay, where to buy guns? Deadwood? Sundance?

Thanks

I have always just camped, there are a ton of places to just stop. Cody is kind of cool and probably has lodging on the east side of Yellowstone, then you hav Jackson to the south of Yellowstone. Back in 99 or 00 I was at Kevin Costner's casino and they had some cool stuff around.

The wife and myself are trying to make a road trip from STL to Yellowstone in July but might not be able to make it/push it off until Aug maybe. I made the trip before and with no reservations...it is kind of nice not having to be at x until you get there plus there is not really a whole lot up there and for what you pay for IMHO camping is not too bad and a LOT cheaper.

Depends on the total loop of travel... There is a LOT to see but without knowing a pretty specific route it's hard to tell you where to go and what to see... I live in a small town near Sheridan, WY area called Ranchester and can tell you quite a bit about the routes from Gillette all the way to Cody which is I-90 all the way to Ranchester and then US-14 from Ranchester to Cody... OR, I can tell you some about the route of Gillette to Buffalo via I-90 and then Buffalo to Thermopolis via US-16... Either of these routes will lead you to the Tetons and Yellowstone if these are some your destinations... Let me know how I can help...

Gun Stores to Hit Along the Way:
Gillette, WY - T&T Guns and Ammo
Buffalo, WY - The Sports Lure
Lovell, WY - Code Red Tactical
Cody, WY - Wyoming Tactical & Supply

Again, let me know what else I can help with... be glad to give restaurant recommendations and some sight seeing recommendations if you happen to be along I-90 and end up closer to my neck of the woods...

Try to work in the Glacier National Park if possible. The ride from west to east side is incredible if open ( avalanches happen ).

My son and I saw the incredible Devil's Tower in August of 2009 when we rode to Sturgis for bike week. Didn't take the guided tour but still have my coffee mug from the souvenir shop. I remember cresting a hill coming in from the south and there it was about 6 miles distant. Amazing sight! Watch out for flying saucers though!!
