New Super Carry Pro HD

Just got one today. Anyone else have one? If so what if anything have you done to it?

Congrats on your new Kimber. I would break it in before making any changes.

I'm guessing, they've shot it.

I would recommend getting replacement recoil springs from Wolff. Mine was pretty reliable after the break-in period, however, I have seen enough recurring issues to remove it as my primary carry firearm. I will be taking it to a local gun smith for him to do "reliability package" on it, and hopefully it can return to its role as a carry firearm. For the time being, it is now my wife's range gun.

After your break in, if you experience any failure to feed or failure to return to battery, I would suggest the Wolff spring designed for 4" or Commander size pistols. Available from Wolff or Brownells. If it hasn't already rubbed off, you also may want to remove the KimProII finish from the feed ramp. Mine also required a replacement extractor from Kimber that had a very small amount of material removed from the inside "hump" because it was contacting the bullet noses, causing premature slide lockback. Mine has been 100% reliable since those fixes.
It has become my favorite 1911.
Enjoy.

But, if after your first stoppage you come to the conclusion Kimbers are crap, I will take it off of your hands at a highly reduced rate because it's a crappy Kimber. PM me after your first trip to the range, and I will be happy to relieve you of it so you can go get something else.

I'm only trying to help.

Mine has had 1 failure to feed in the first 500 rounds because it has not been cleaned in 500 rounds (intentionally) that occured somewhere around 480. Lubed the rails and shot another 300 without incident since. It will get a decent bath at 1000 rounds and regular cleanings at every 200-250 rounds from then on. I need to know what it's made of since it will stand guard over the lives of me and my family (PASS).

The only thing changed were the grips, screws and bushings. I prefer slim grips. They just feel better in my hand. One deadly piece for sure and pretty to look at too.

I really would like to get a Kimber Super Carry Custom hd, it has everything that I'm looking for. But I'm concerned about the reliabilty. But is the consensus that if I replace the recoil spring with a Wolff HD than it SHOULD run fine...
Any experiences with exact model, I've seen a lot of carry pro and ultra, how about the 5" custom

Mine has worked perfect since I purchased last September. Replaced recoil spring, as I do in all Pro models.
