You put that trigger into a Wilson???
Well, if you like it... All the guns I've seen and shot and I had never seen a trigger like that on anything, anywhere until I stumbled across one of your 1911 pics here! And yeah, someone should be giving you a kickback for all the free advertising...still, I'd have to shoot one first to see if I like it before I did that to one of mine. Guess I'm a little old fashioned... Sorry for the thread drift. Champs...one is on my list eventually, hear good things about them.

I have a stainless champion and the jury is still out sort-a-speak. 500 rnds Since new and it has had feeding issues ever since, Even trying different magazines didn't help so this week I sent it to Springfield. I guess we'll see when it comes back.

![]() People that shoot them like them. A friend did a side by side shoot with my EB Kobra Carry and his KC. Both were setup the same with the exception of triggers. He had 150 rounds through his that day and none through mine. He shot a better group with the flat trigger.

Back on topic. If you are going for a S/A Champion make sure you get a Loaded version, it's money saved in the long run, as you can not get a GI or Mil spec modified for the cost of the Loaded. It would cost at least twice as much to get all the mods done that a Loaded already has. By the way I do own a SS Champion Loaded, and have not regretted the decision.

![]() Just picked one up and I have sent it away to get some work done on it. Solid gun from what I see. Shot through all the mags I put in it with no problems. I will add this to my carry rotation.

Speaking of Champions, I didn't want to start a new thread for what is most likely a simple question to some. Did the "Champion" model replace the "Compact" model? My dad purchased a stainless Mil-Spec "Compact", which appears to be every bit the same as a former Champion I owned. Can someone confirm this for me?

The compact is a 4" barral gun with an officer's size frame. The champion didn't replace it, the compact was discontinued. You can order them through the custom shop but it will cost.

I don't know about replacing but the Compact is not quite the same as a Champion. While they both have a 4" barrel the Champion has a full size frame. The Compact has an Officers size frame making it a "CCO" form factor.

I do not like the looks of the straight trigger at all. Having said that, an FBI Agent I was introduced to at a local police range had a 1911 with a straight trigger and he had me shoot it. I've gotta admit that while it may be ugly, but it sure feels great. I can definitely see why somebody would want one. While not exactly identical, Garthwaite makes a straight wide trigger for the Hi Power. I have used it on 2 Hi Powers so far and it too is a really great trigger.

I like the heft of my 12-year-old loaded SS Champion.
Pros: Incredible accuracy (out shoots my TRP some days) Built like a brick house Great trigger Solid fixed sights Fits my hand just right Easier to carry than a full size Looks like it was milled out of a solid block of SS In demand, for resale (but why would you ever sell it) Made in USA Cons: It took three trips to SA to get it shooting right without jamming Eats up brass Hard to find at gun stores
