I own both and have carried both. Without question, I would and do choose the 1911 in Condition I over the Glock with one in the chamber. I am completely comfortable with both in regard to "safety". I keep the Glock in the armrest, with one in the chamber, in case a situation arose in which I could not reach for the 1911.
