A Mile Stone Day.

Today is my very first job interview for law enforcement. I'm pretty excited. The position is for a part time patrol officer at my local PD. Part time is fine, I don't need much money and I still have school I wish to attend, so part time would be great for now.

Hoping for the best. I got up this morning and got all spiffied up. I got my wits about me and I'm confident. This is my town, I've been here since forever and I want this job. Now it is my chance to get the chief completely on board. I'm one of the top candidates, so I'm told.

Kind of funny doing this at 38 years old. My resume reads construction and heavy equipment. That is what I had been doing since the military. I love it, but the the economy sucks, jobs were scarce. Prior to all of this I had worked with my old man, but he died in 08. I took the opportunity to follow my dreams while I still could, and here I am today. Dad didn't care too much for the idea of law enforcement, but he did teach me to follow my dreams. I think he'd be proud.

Wish me luck. It's 2hrs and counting to perhaps the rest of my life.

Best of luck to you. As a more senior agent advised me on or about my first day on the job, "being in law enforcement is like having a ticket to the greatest show on earth".

The interview went well I think. It was way more informal than I thought it would be. I guess I'll know something in about a month.

Thanks for the support.

Glad to hear you feel good about it. Being local, prior military service, and extensive "life experience" are three things what will weigh heavily in your favor. Best of luck!

Thats great news! I hope everything works out for you. In my experience as a field trainer, the people with some "life experience" are always easiee to train and have an edge over the youngins on the job.

Good for you! I always wanted to be a cop when I was a kid and went into the USAF and became an SP 30 years ago but somehow ended up a respiratory therapist 10 years later. In 2004 I got the opportunty to get back into LE and I've been doing both ever since and love it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
