All FS RIA pistols come with a factory 18 lb.recoil spring.Advance Tac. uses, or did use Wolff springs as replacements. Wolff spring is a 18 1/2LB.

I have a random premature slide lock (might be my grip) and sometimes a push feed that never quite pushes the extractor over the case rim. After this thread, I looked closer at my pistol and magazines (one ACT, two CMC's) and they hang super low and loose. Maybe I will see if Advanced Tactical will sell me a higher mag catch.

Just call and let them know. I have the same issue. Called this morning, they patched me straight through to Shawn. He asked a couple of questions to clearify the issue and then said "your part will be in the mail this afternoon". No mater how much QC a company has sometimes little quirks slip through. I know, I work for a company building "The Ultimate Driving Machines" and even we have to send a car to "rework" every now and then. The difference is how well you stand behind your product and make your customers happy. I think the only way Rock Island could make their service better is to hire a mind reader to know what I need before I call, but I will settle for what I get. Price has no effect on customer service only integrity and thats what you get when you buy Rock Island. JMHO and many others.

I have the same issue with mine, but instead of sending me a part. They told me to send it in. I wonder why?

Plus, how do you all get to talk to the gunsmiths?? I called today to check on mine and was told that "It is taking 3 weeks, and we will call you when it shipped back to you" Which I took as, leave us alone and you will get it when you get it

Just ask for a gunsmith. Usually it is shawn that answers. My 1911 fs was sent off about a week ago. It left on its way back home yesterday. I have talked to gunsmiths 3 times since my gun left here. Just ask for a gunsmith.

My 1911 functioned flawlessly but I noticed a slight bend inward on the left side frame slide rail so I sent it in. I have always been a die-hard Glock fan but Even though I had to send my first Rock Island in for service I been so impressed with the service of this company that I ordered a CS model today.

By the way This full size 1911 GI ate every brand of ammo I threw at it with no problems, and was MORE accurate than my para 14.45 LDA and my glocks. After finding the problem I just sent it in a a precaution.

Note I talked to NV and they told me that there was a run of frames were the mag release hole was not drilled deep enough so the mag release would not fully engage the mag causing some mags to not run right. The only fix is to deepen the hole in the frame. Also there was a problem with some of the mag releases make sure you have the newer fully checkered one instead of the one with straight lines. I just drilled the hole out my self but I do not recommend unless you have access to proper tools and bits, also just call NV and ask to have new mag release sent.

most disappear with a different brand mag and/or feed ramp polish

BTW, many 1911s have that much slop on the mag
Most still feed fine .
with some 1911s , the .020 lift the EGW mag catch provides is needed

..L.T.A.
Gun has over 1000rnds through and randomly does this with different brands of magazines. The feed ramp does not need polish, either, it's the mag release
