New tac pro 9mm guide rod problem

The hole on the pistols GR is pointed sideways(horizonal) instead of towards the opening between barrel and DC.The clip won't go in when in slide lock.Should I call Kimber and ask why.It's my wifes pistol and I dont think she'd have an easy time doing it the alternate way.I can do it but it is harder to do it that way I think for her.
