New Kimber Owner

Hi all, I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and just purchased a new Custom Covert II. It will be waiting at my house when I get home in a few months. I am brand new to the .45 world but not new to guns by any means. I have read a few threads on aluminium frames and saw that Wilson mags are favored. The gun comes with 7 round mags and I was wondering if Wilson 8 round mags would work and if anyone could provide direct links to or s/n to good mags.

All in all I can not wait to get home and enjoy my new investment.

Congrats on the new gun, as far as mags go I like Kimber's KimPro-Tac mags. Here is a link to the mags I am talking about, though I believe you can find them cheaper on other on line stores.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations for purchasing such a fine firearm. I use a Wilson Combat 47D mag, which holds eight, in my Stainless Pro TLE II. No problems there.

Like many others I use Wilson mags. in my Super Match and RO. They're my personal favorite over McCormick which are the only other 3rd party mags with which I have experience. You should have no problems with 8 round Wilsons as that's what all of mine are.

I've had -0- problems with the Kimber mags that comes with the pistol. I ordered extras when I bought the pistol and they all work great.

Ive been using Wilson 47Ds in my Kimber TLE for years with absolute reliability. Wilson makes a great product, you wont be disapointed.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new Kimber. As others have said, thanks for your service to our country. I use Wilson mags in all my 1911s
and have never had any problems.

I bought a custom covert II about a month ago ( after a 3 month wait ). I use both Kimber and Wilson mags with no problems. Good luck and have fun with your Kimber. You won't be disappointed.

If I'm not mistaken. You are refering to the use of magazines with a plastic/nylon follower vs. a magazine with a metal follower, in a gun with an aluminum frame.

The "stock" magazine (with a metal follower) may work fine, but that doesn't mean that you can't "upgrade". With that said, I also use Wilson 47D's in my TLE, and have never had an issue.

When you get back, pick up a couple mags and enjoy that pistol!
