FBI Stats: Gun Sales Up, Violent Crime Down

I thought I would share this because it brought a smile to my face and it is something we all know is true.

Preliminary crime statistics for 2011 released today by the FBI show a 4 percent decrease in violent crime–a continuation of a long-term downward trend nationwide.

The continuing decrease in violent crime comes at a time when firearms ownership has increased across America, a fact that utterly contradicts the mantra of anti-gun groups that that more guns equals more crime. “Every gun owner should be armed with this information,” said NSSF President and CEO Steve Sanetti.

Excellent information. Thank you for sharing. After going over these stats I noticed burglary offenses in property crime showed no improvement. Lets all do what we can to keep our toys out of the wrong hands. IMO, second line of defense, next to a firearm, is an alarm system.

I notice that in several regional comparison that the Northeast, where gun laws are most stringent, had the smallest decreases or had increases in various categories.
