Question about Colt 1903 32acp hammerless
I recently had a chance to inspect a few Colt 1903 hammerless 32acp type I pistols and they did not have serial numbered slides (from inside). A couple of local collectors claimed slides on type I pistols must be numbered at the factory, and now I am confused. Can anybody let me know if the slides on these pistols were originally numbered or not?
Thanks in advance. |

According to John Brunner...The earliest pistols did not have the serial number stamped inside the slide.
Beginning in 1917 at S/N 250000 the last 3 digits of the S/N were stamped on the firing pin housing of the slide. |
