Checkered MSH for Dan Wesson Guardian 9mm?
Greetings. Just picked up a Guardian 9mm Bobtail for my wife and would like to know if anyone sells a checkered MSH drop-in for it? I checked the DW parts site and did not see one. Any suggestions?
She has not shot it yet (just picked it up today) but she loves the feel of it compared to her P229 Elite. I filled up and ran it with the 2 mags that came with it and did not have a problem. Going to put a few hundred rounds through it this weekend. ![]() Thanks! |

I have seen people mention on here that they bought the Ed Brown MSH with checkering and there was no fitting required. But it's possible that fitting will be required. Not to mention the color might be a bit different due to DW's duty treatment.

Thanks for the info.
If anyone has done this yet, does the Ed Brown MSH fit the 9mm frame width without mods? |

I searched Brown and found a few posts most say they drop in and work but could use blending. The guardian frame is not duty coat it is anodized aluminum so you can have a new AL MSH anodized black if you have a local place that does ano.

Not sure about the Guardian but it fits the PM9 perfectly, no fitting necessary, and the color and finish match is perfect. Zero issues.

From CZ's website:
"We've had many requests to produce a commander-sized 1911 in 9mm. In response, we've revived one of the early Dan Wesson 1911 models with a twist... We have combined the best features from two of our most popular models, the Bobtail Commander and the CCO. The new Guardian has the bobtail frame to help reduce printing when carrying concealed, and the alloy frame, makes it light enough for comfortable full time carry. The commander length slide and alloy frame give it just the right feel and balance. The Guardian wears the handsome and durable black “Duty” finish from Dan Wesson. If you are looking for a lightweight, commander-sized 1911 in either 9mm or .45 ACP, don't pass up the Guardian." Not sure where shawnthornton got the Guardian was not duty coat. Maybe because I do not believe the duty coat can be done on aluminum, maybe keith can chime in about it.I wonder if the stainless coated msh from a vbob will fit the guardian,it is checkered and will only add a little bit of weight to the gun vs. the al. msh.

The frame on the Guardian is Aluminium and not Duty finished; its anodized. The slide and bits are steel.

That is the way I understand it too. The steel parts are duty treatment, the frame is anodized. There still may be variations in the color of anodizing.

There's a guy here who did it but it's some sort of big secret. So big in fact, he's not willing to even post a pic.

I just ordered one from Brownells. I'll post pics of the fit as it comes from the package and go from there. Thanks.

I put a curved checkered MSH with lanyard ring on my Remington R-1. It came from Brownells. Make sure when you install it, that the grip safety still works. The tab at the top of the MSH on mine had to be filed down until the grip safety could complete its rearward travel and function correctly.

Installed a Ed Brown 25lpi bobtailed msh on my Cbob and it will drop in but you really need to blend it to make it look nice!

Here's my 9mm Guardian with Ed Brown MS Housing. Dropped right in and the color matches well. No fitting required.

Sorry for the bump, but I didn't want to ask the exact same question in a new thread. Is this MSH (in the black Guardian) the EB checkered bobtail in blue? I'm guessing an anodized pistol wouldn't match that perfectly in color with a blued MSH, but I didn't see another option that wasn't silver at Brownell's.

It is the EB checkered bobtail in blue. Fit my wife's Guardian without any mods and matches pretty well. Functions as intended.
