9mm
New guy here looking to get a 9mm 1911. Looked at the Loaded Target-want a target model-wondering how those of you who have a 9mm like them. Right now a toss up between SA, Kimber and STI. I didn't realize until I started snooping around here that SAs are made in Brazil. Convince me that's not a bad thing.

All the SA frames and slides are forged in Brazil, and some of them are sent to the US for final fitting, like the custom shop guns and the Famous Professional itself. If that's not good enough, then nothing will convince you.

The STI Trojan is going to be a better gun than the Loaded.

I picked up my SA target 9mm 3 weeks ago and just love shooting this gun. I will say that this gun can shoot better than I can shoot it right now but part of the fun is to enjoy the practice to get better.

Quack,
How does the STI Trojan stack up against the DW Guardian 9mm? Different type guns?

i liked my DaWG.
different guns with different purposes. I traded my DW for a STI Tactical 4.15 for carry. I liked the DW, but i like 2011's more. if comparing the PM-9 to the Trojan, i'd pick the Trojan because it's carbon steel. My 9mm Loaded had a decent fit when it was new, but it's loosened up quite a bit.

I guess you don't have much of a problem changing mags on that one! As always, great looking guns Quack. My daughter has taken my DW Guardian in 9mm for herself so I am now looking for a 9mm. I appreciate the STI suggestion I will start looking. For now I am breaking in a Kimber Solo 9mm and it is more work than fun. I also bought a Ruger LC9 that I am considering for carry when biking. I will keep either the Solo or the LC9 for biking and very small carry but I really want a nice mid-full framed 9mm as well. STI might fit that need just perfect.

I have a stainless loaded target. I only had one issue with it - for a target gun, the trigger was nothing to write home about. The pull was 5.5 lbs and it had a little creep. I finally took it to my local gunsmith and for 50 bucks I now have a true target 9mm. The barrel to bushing and barrel to slide fit are nice and tight. It the most accurate 9mm I have ever shot. (And I've shot more than a few)

Any comments out there about the Elektra from STI? I have three females that I am tutoring in shooting and self defense and the Elektra looks like a nice option in 9mm.

Probably a better question for the STI forum. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any STI.

Yep, love my STIs
I prefer carbon over stainless because (IME) carbon can be fit tighter than SS and stays tighter longer. Also if you look at DW stainless guns, they had issues galling. My SS 9mm Loaded started out fit pretty well, but now there is quite a bit of play in.it. the barrel bushing wasnt fit well, so I refit a new one. I was wanting more from the trigger, so I replaced it. So for just a little bit more (today) I would get a Trojan, but I got my Loaded at a good price years ago.
