Gold Cup or New National Match
I am looking for opinions here. If it works out this year, I will purchase one of the two. The GCT or the repro GCNM.
What are your opinions about the two? It will be strictly for range. No carry. Thanks |

I have the blued Trophy,

I've shot both, owned the GCNM. Hammer bite can be an issue shooting the GCNM. On mine I had the original grip safety fitted with a custom one that allowed me to retain the spur hammer and eliminated the issue. I really liked how it was set up. That and mine was ported with a little better match sights. I was quite accurate with it shooting bullseye with it.
The trophy is a nice gun, but to be honest I find it somewhat disappointing. The GCNM to me was a little better accuracy wise. If I where to buy another, it would be another GCNM.

Both are very good but a GCNM in blue is just so beautiful. Oh by the way the ones with the flat top slides are my favorite. GORGEOUS.

I don't get a lot of hammer bite. But I really like that bluded GCT. Too bad Colt discontinured it.

Well Trophy's were made from 1997 to today. The early SS Trophy's had flat top slides. I keep my eyes open for those. Below is a Trophy from my shooty collection made in 2010. I did change out the wrap around grips for some I ordered off the Colt web site. From what I have read Colt made them into 2011, but no slide markings only grip changes. I could see those 2011 grips being "knocked off" and put on a gun like this.
