Want a range gun

I want a new range gun. I have a loaded champion and an older colt but want something just to have fun with at the range. Here's my wish list.

Magwell
Two-tone
Front & back strap checkering
Maybe even an undercut trigger
Around or under $1300
Would prefer a non-custom build

The sig sayer stx seems to be the closest thing but wanted to hear other options I should consider.

Go with the sig if it has what you want. They're good guns and priced well. They also have good parts in them.

It's a little outside your budget, but I was in a similar pickle where I wanted a gun purely for punching paper not too long ago.

I ended up with a Les Baer Heavyweight Monolith w/1.5" guarantee and adjustable sights. It's not a carry gun, just a really accurate refined paper puncher.

Just a thought.

Actually the les wasn't as much as I expected. I searched around and found one near my price range. It's not exactly what I was looking for but seems like a great gun.

As I was reading down your list, I was thinking - that sounds like my STX. Then I saw you came to the same conclusion. It's a great value - don't think you could possibly go wrong with one.

An alternative to the Les Baer Mono is a Premier II. Can be ordered in 2 tone and is hands down one of the most accurate guns you'll ever handle. Baer guns can be found for very reasonable prices on the used market.

All stock - no mods. From what I can tell, they all ship with the skeletonized trigger now. I've put 300-400 rounds through it so far and it has been 100%. More accurate than I am.

Strictly range, try something from STI. I've been wanting one for a while.

Range, carry or duty; a Baer is the best bang for the buck once you get beyond the Colt price range; hands down.
