Good thread, perfect timing... Texas summers are brutal. I especially enjoyed the post of the heat in Philly... Perhaps hot there for a week, try hotter than haitis for 4 months. You WILL use the AC.
Also ride and the leather vest is normal attire, but no way to make that work when its 110 out. IWB via MS VM2 works well with shorts and t shirt. Wished we had OC option, not that I would but OWB concealed is best or most comfortable. |

In our nice Florida heat, I always carry the same thing, a 5" S.S. S&W 1911 in a DeSantis owb speed holster, it covers up fine with a light weight outdoors/button up fishing shirt.

I am in Florida and it gets in the 100s with no problem. I always carry either a full size Glock 20 10mm or now a Full size 1911 Sig Extreme. So no, it is never too hot to carry

90 here in San Antonio. S&W M&P 40C in a medium Tommy's Original Gunpack under an untucked shirt, S&W BG380 in left front jeans pocket. The guns change, but the carry method is the same winter or summer.
I can't imagine being unarmed just because of the heat. Most assuredly will be getting into the 100's later on in the year, and won't change a thing in the way I carry. My thoughts are that the pavement in summer would just be hotter as you're laying on it wishing you hadn't been so worried about a little discomfort and had had something to protect yourself with. |

As above. 90 is NOT hot. When it gets above 100 we can speak.

When it's hot, so hot that even the G26 in an MTAC IWB is uncomfortable, the trusty little Kahr PM9 rides in a front pocket.
If it's too hot/uncomfortable to carry using your normal methods, change your methods and/or change your gun. Everybody should have a pocket gun in their CCW tool box. |

I always carry no matter how "hot" it is. I can't tell you when the last time I wore shorts. It has to be 95 for me to consider it "hot". I grew up in south Florida and now live in Alabama so heat has never been an issue. I rather be in warm weather than cold weather.

Have you tried a simple lightweight button-up shirt? You can use one as a cover garment if you leave it unbuttoned. As long as the material isn't too thin it shouldn't blow open.
Or, just button it up and let it hang. I have some of these and like them: Woolrich Elite Discreet Carry Shirt The velcro side vents and false button/magnetic closer make it easier to clear your holster for a draw. I'm no longer a fan of the whole "concealment vest" thing. Vests are not common attire these day and they attract attention simply because they are unique. My goal when carrying concealed is to blend into the background as much as possible. BTW: I carry a full-size 1911 year round. My clothes change to suit the season, but the gun remains the same. It's not the heat, it's the humidity!!
I'll take a 90 degree desert over a 90 degree swamp any day of the week.

the 38 spl does me good in a IWB holster from Bianchi when it just gets too hot to carry my 1911's without poking clear out the shirt. Or I can just open carry like 69 charger but I have to hear it from my lady

I carry a Commander in S Fla all the time,it can get real brutal stuck at a light on a hotrod Harley.Normally I carry OWB with a sleveless heavy "biker" shirt unless it's goimg to be one of those days we'll be balls to the wall.Once I get over 65 the the shirt will give a few peeks, which isn't illegal, but anything from 75 up forces me to go IWB.If the OL is with me she holds the shirt down but she isn't with me on the crazy runs or it just seems time to go WFO to clean it out.Kind of sucks riding around town and putting back roads for days when the cams don't start breathing until 3K rpm.

South GA here. Get's plenty hot and humid. I carry a Commander in a crossbreed. I also ride and my carry doesn't change. Usuallly just have a wifebeater between me and the gun and a 2XXL T-shirt over.
Also find that my Eotac field vest in black works until it's real hot and makes accessing the gun easier. All the pockets are handy on the bike also. Never too hot to carry... always to hot to get shot...

+1 on the cargo shorts idea--I've carried S&W 642 and Glock 27 in cargo shorts side pockets, when the t-shirt gets a little tight, as mine seem to do every year!

I also carry year round, but tend to rotate into the compact frames when I shed the winter wear. Full size during the winter, and something like Smith 3913, G26, or .38 snubby with the lighter wear. I also started dropping a NAA Mini .22 into my front pocket as a backup. Now I never go anywhere without it.
