Check-Mate Magazine Base Thread Size and Pitch?
I picked up a few Check-Mate 1911 mags and a couple of base pads. The screws that came with the pads pretty much suck and I would like to replace them with hex-head cap screws. Does anybody know what size and pitch the holes in the basepad are threaded at?
The smallest my gauges measure down to is 6-32 and the screws are smaller than that so I'm out of luck at the moment. Thanks! |

Pretty sure they are 4-40.
The screws that come with the Checkmate mags are self-tapping and the bases are not threaded. If you plan to use hardware store screws you should get a handfull of 4-40 taps, some cutting oil, and be patient. I have done what you're planning to do-because I didn't care for the silver dot on a black basepad/black mag. Yes, I'm a bit compulsive. |
