Remington Rand 1911 serial number help
My father recently obtained his father's 1911, which was his WWII sidearm. We are having a bit of trouble figuring it out, the numbers dont seem to work.
The slide says Remington Rand Inc, Syracuse NY USA but the serial number on the frame above the trigger says No_277924, which judging by the charts ive found suggests thats it is a Colt, year 1918. Is it possible the slide is from the newer Rand, and this is indeed a 1918 colt? Are there any hallmarks or other numbers on the weapon to look at? Thanks. |

It is not only possible, but likely. If you will post your question on the "USGI" forum instead of here in the "Other" forum, the experts there will give you an amazing amount of information about your pistol. Be sure to take some photos showing all the slide and frame markings, take-down lever, hammer and even the serial number. If your pictures are good, they will give you an accurate assessment of your pistol.

Yes, bushwick,
I am the proud owner of a 1918 Colt/Remington Agusta Arsenal Rebuild 1911. It has a Colt frame and a Remington slide.
