625-3
I have been trying to find a Smith & Wesson 625-3 model of 1989 with a 3 inch barrel in good used condition for a reasonable price for quite some time now and cannotseem to accomplish this. I always seem to miss them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check the auction sites daily(couple times a day) and keep an eye on the for sale section over at http://smith-wessonforum.com/ they have been known to up for sale there. As always tho the 625-3 isnt going to last for long being for sale.

Whats a "reasonable price"?
The three inchers ALL seem to command far higher prices than common sense dictates they should. Crazy market for certain models or barrel lengths today. Robertson beat me to it...keep an eye out on the S&W Forum...join...post a WANTED over on the for sale side too. Good Luck....The hunt is fun isn't it? I finally found a LNIB 686 CS-1 after a two or three yr search. FN in MT |

"Reasonable" is a market definition, and prices for most good condition used S&Ws are climbing. Judging by what I see on the S&W forum, I'm guessing that you will do well to snag one for about $900. The 3" versions are very popular with enough people to completely trash the market. I personally find the full lug barrels to be UGLY, so I would not seek another (I had a 5" 625-6 that was stolen, and I want back - great shooter, but just flat out ugly). Try getting a 45 ACP Mountain Gun - that's another trashed market.

What do you consider reasonable for a 625-3?

I would also vote about an $800 thing when you find one in great shape.

The 625 is an excellent revolver. I started with a model 25 some 35 years ago and have nothing but praise for the accuracy. I had my 625 at the range twice this week and it got a lot of praise from those shooting around me when they saw the nice tight groups it shot.

They are not cheap. $500.00 would be an excellent deal but good luck. $700.00 is alot more likely if not more.

I have never seen one of these for <900. Usually a lot higher than that.
Personally, I settled on a 4-inch 625 and scratched my 3" itch with a 65, 686 and 696.

Although I love my 625 5 inch, I also love my 325PD, which may be an option for some. Scandium frame and Titanium cylinder with a SS barrel intsert and nice wood grips.

Don't see reasonable price and 3 inch S&W 625 in the same sentence often. Good luck and keep on looking everywhere, you just never know.

That is true and why I said 700.00 and up If your lucky. Sometimes if you wait long enough you might stumble on to one in the 700.00 range and it will be used and fair to poor condition. If we are talk NIB it is Oviosly higher. I would not rule out the 25-2 either but they cost the same if not more. They will be custom are Lew Hortion also in this barrel lenght.

A friend of mine had and sold a well used one at a local gun show for $625. I don't recall if it was a -3 or not but defiantly pre lock and 3" bbl. He kept it put away for me to have first dibs on but I simply didn't have the cash for it at the time. This friend of mine always finds the hard to find stuff I am looking for. He found me a full rail TRP operator that was gently used, and a like new s&w 325 night guard that I had been looking for for a while. I LOVE THAT GUY. lol
