GSG 1911 Replacement Guide Rod
Anyone know the difference between the stock guide rod that came with the GSG 1911 from the replacement that ATI sends out? A picture of comparison would be nice. I just emailed ATI today and they said it will be shipped out soon.

there are some past threads with discussion, images...
but short answer...
original guide rod was cylindrical down its length
first revision was an X cross section down its length... these failed quickly
second revision retained X cross section for about three fourths of length, then transitioned to cylindrical cross section.

imho original was best.

Spend $20 and buy a CWA or GSG Pro guide rod...

Yea I was thinking of getting the zrt ss guide rod and spring. Did anyone see a difference with the ss guide rod installed? (Performance or reliability wise)

I got a mate of mine to make me a s/s full guide rod 1 thouth wider than a standard rod the washer and cone spring just fit on I find that the guild rod plug doesn't rattle around and cycles smoother And accuracy is alot better. I think the added weight up front helps with that? I've used about 500 standard velocity with out a prob( not counting the fail to fire that fired on the 2nd drop of the hammer doh!)

The GSGpro guide rod and recoil spring are quality items, their service is excellent and their delivery is quick.

I bought a SAC from ZR Tactical Solutions and can also say the same about them, too.

You can bet on what 2 sites I will go to for my future accessory purchases.

It's good to see American Free Enterprise and good old work ethic are still alive and strong.

So out of GSG Pro, ZR Tactical,and CWA... which all sell VERY similar products for the full length guide rod.... which is recommended...

Pros and cons to the 3...

Anyone use the 4+ round followers that two of the manufactures carry above...are they any good?..etc.

I want to get a FLGR for the gsg 1911 I just got, but out of the 3 they look pretty much identical... and at this point I'm willing to just get the cheapest out of the 3 unless one is genunily better than another...
