Check Mate mags and sig
I started a thread in anther forum that has fizzled out so i will try it here. How many of you guys use Check Mate hybrid 8 round mags in your sigs? how well do they work. i have don't a lot of reading about them and they seem solid. but how do they work with your Sig.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the hybrid checkmates standard issue with Sig 1911's now? The four that came with my TacOps certainly looked like it, but I haven't looked specifically at the feed lips.

Im not sure the base plates on the ones i found online are different. plus the ones sig is using are casing in some cases causing a failure to lock back on the last round. also i have herd complaints of the plates busting off.

I got 2 with my STX and so far (300 rds or so) they have been flawless.

I found them to have weak springs but I don't seem to have good luck with 8 round magazines...I changed the spring and follower out for Tripp CobraMag upgrades (6) and mine have been flawless since 2007...they have even made some 1911 pattern pistols more reliable since the swap of internals...

I ran 6 of them yesterday and they ran perfect. Had problems with two a while ago but since breaking them down and cleaning they have run perfect.

The baseplate on mine broke. Would prefer a metal base with a screw on bump pad like the CMC's. Never had a failure with the gun using it though.

The guy at the LGS asked if the mag was used and I said yes. He then started spouting off that they don't accept used returns. I asked him how would I know if it worked or not in my 1911 if I didn't try it. I explained that it had only 8 rounds fired from it and it had 2 FTFs. That was enough to turn me offon the mag. He finnaly checks with the owner and let me exchange it. The Checkmates that were OEM and the Wildons Combats were flawless. |

Golden sabers and pdx1 have both fed flawlessly through my sig mags. I have have issues with win white box flat nose. But after breaking down the mags and cleaning them they ran flawless since.

Win/ranger t's ran great, not so with the fioochi jhp's might have been the mags might have been the ammo. I try to avoid hp that are to busy at the tip of the bullet.

The Hornady TAP rounds (230gr) fed fine as did the two new Wilson Combat 8 rounders.

Checkmate Mag--Sig Ultra
2 SS 7rd checkmate mags came with my Ultra. The spring & follower popped out on one of them after 100rds---sent back to checkmate with my comments about their quality instead of sending to Sig for a replacement (Sig has been great about mag isssues IMO & past experience). Will get WC mags for carry--
