Precisely. There has been a lot of debate about this on the calguns 2a forum. I wouldnt advise anyone to hit up an LEO to buy them a gun... But at the same time, an LEO can sell an off roster gun through an FFL transfer, and it would not be illegal. There are a few threads on the subject over there if anyone is interested.

You guys do know that it is NOT illegal to sell someone your gun with just a handshake and cash right?

different states have different rules, luckily i don't live in one of those restrictive states.

In California: Sales conducted between unlicensed individuals are called Private Party Transfers. PPT’s must be brokered through licensed dealers. Both parties must be present at the time of the sale. The purchaser bears the cost of the transaction ($35) and must meet all of the qualifications.

then there's ways to get a firearm that is not on the list in to CA by using the single shot exemption.

Thank goodness more FFL's are willing to do this. A year ago, you could only find a handfull that would SSE a gun. Now there are a lot of them. The ATF can do nothing about it.

LEO's are allowed to buy and transfer up to 3 non-ca approved guns per year. It used to be unlimited, but as what was said before, some LEO's made a few too many transfers (we runnung a business) on these types of transfers.

Yup it sold for 2K on calguns. I'd rather send my MC Operator I got for 1K to the custom shop to get it refinished black.

Dont forget the 4 wilson mags -$110. That would be $1050 for the gun and the prices above for all the accessories. I would have bought it and liquidated all the accessories. It was one hell of a deal for a LB Operator you do not see very often.

Model number is different as well. PX9105MLP for the regular MC op, and PC9CUS for the long beach edition.
