New to Taurus 1911

Purchased my PT1911 9mm 2 weeks ago. went second day to range and shot probably 150 rounds. No issues at all. love this gun to shoot. some of the blue has already rubbed from the safety, but that gives it class. I would vote to say that my eyes dont line up to the sites and it shoots about 2 inches down and 15 yards. pretty darn close at 7 and we will not discuss further as I cant see the target that good. I dont like stuffing the 9th into the magazine so i shoot in 8. i can deal with that.

i was wondering are the built to government spec? i know a friend had a colt 1911 45 and we were able to swap every part on the frame with my 1911. magazine sort of dragged in, but worked. we did not shoot - were just looking. Barrel, slide, springs (field dress) just moved parts. would that shoot? i am guess it would.
