New PT1911 Shooter
Well I picked up my first 1911 this past week, and I decided on a stainless PT1911 chambered in 9mm. I just put about 250 rounds through it, and I couldn't be happier! It took everything I fed it, from cheap federal 115 and 124 gr target loads, and shot 147 gr JHP through it as well. It didn't miss a beat. I did have my concerns before buying it about extraction ect. especially with the 115 gr ammo. But it didn't stop for anything. It did shoot a little left right out of the box, but that was a matter of easy sight adjustment. The only thing I'm looking to change right away is the grips, and was thinking about getting some grips made by Raasco. Anyone have any experience with these grips or pics to show with them?

Can't answer your question about the grips, but I am glad you got a good experience. I have a PT 1911 9mm (the wife's, but I shoot it, a lot) and I couldn't be happier with it. It fits nice and there are no ''mass produced" gaps or burrs on it anywhere. Even the magazines worked perfectly. The fit and function of it rivals a few $1000 1911s that I have shot (and own).

I've gone to Raasco for Taurus grips and have been very happy with them and they look great. You won't be sorry if you go with them.
Show you pictures but don't know how to yet.

rassco makes great grips. i was about to recommend houge rubber wrap around grips for your first 1911 because they are compfy and severely reduce the feel of the recoil. but seeing as you chose a 9mm model i dont believe recoil would be an issue. :-) hope you enjoy it. i know i love my taurus 1911

New 1911 9mm
Just got this and have been to the range twice and put about 300 rounds (Federal 115gr) through it. Love the gun but I have noticed that about every other mag it will not lock the slide open after the last round and had one FTE. Hopefully after some use these thing will work themselves out. Put some Kimber Rosewood Marine grips on it. The look and feel great.

Raasco grips
I love my RAASCO Grips! These are slim charcoal silvertone dymondwood with the tactical half checkering. I did not order them specifically for the Taurus although that is an option and will then go directly on an unmodified PT1911. I have done away with the ambidextrous saftey and ordered the slim bushing and screw set to go along with them. The rubber finger grooves is a Pierce grip enhancer that goes under any standard grip panel. Here they are:

GEO1911 I have the same issue with mine. I have heard it is the recoil spring and 115gr rounds that cause this. Might work itself out after a few more range trips. It doesn't happen every time but it's enough to notice it. This is fun gun not a carry piece so I don't think I am not going to make any changes to it.
