restamping roll marks.
I have a friend who owns a Colt Series 70 with very light roll marks. He wants to have it Ion-bonded. He is afraid that that this will cover up the light roll marks. Can anyone recommend an engraver or gunsmith who will restamp roll marks. Thanks

I'm fairly sure that Ionbond will not cover the rollmarks. However, Bob Cogan/APW does offer a service to freshen the rollmarks. I think he uses a pantograph for that. There are probably a couple other shops that also do that.

Turnbull Restoration
Try this; www.turnbullrestoration.com. They have several different original Colt factory roll marks they can match to the vintage of the pistol.
Good luck, Ben H

If it is IonBonded the existing detail or lack thereof will not be effected.
