Thanks, I'm aware of the damascus (I've been a huge fan of it in knives, flashlights, etc) but in the pictures with this gun and the others he posted the contrast between the two metals is more pronounced on this one than the others.

![]() ![]() Hollywood, See the difference contrast between the two slides, not the patterns. Sorry I picked the wrong two pictures for comparison, it's sort of tough to see here. |

I think I see what you are getting at now, towards the rear of the slides it looks like it is more textured?

Yes, I have been doing some reading and as far as I can tell when and if you have to re-etch it after building things can be different. I was reading on some info provided by Chad Nichols (a damascus supplier) about etching.

Multi caliber gun on a Caspian frame by SDM Fabricating. All calibers perform like singular custom guns. 10mm, .45, and 9mm/.38 Super. [IMG]

Here is my recently finished Caspian Build. I am still working out the 'tweaks' in the fit, so I will have it professionally refinished after I am 100% certain everything is great. I am also playing with the add-on checkered front strap to see if I want that done before I either ruin the frame or have the frame refinished and THEN decide to checker it.
This is a OxyPho creme blue job, and it looks more washed out with the Halogen lights at night than in the natural day lighting.

He hasn't logged in in over two years. He's probably long gone, which is unfortunate as I'd love a 10mm CCO!

This is the basic style of build I've been trying to get the ambition to go for the past few months and the first time I've seen it done in a way I really appreciate and would love to replicate. Disappointing to hear he's no longer active but hopefully after studying the pic in more detail, I'll be able to get the general idea...

Just a thought - if you contacted one of the big name smiths and showed them this pic, they may be able to point you in the right direction. I've seen a couple similar CCOs from the guys at Heirloom Precision.

Here's one I just finished
I just finished pressing in the sights this evening. Sorry for the low picture quality. I just don't have the camera for it.

Recently purchased this from a gunsmith who built this for himself some time ago then sold it to me.

Nothing spectacular, built this one . 10mm which is my first Caspian and favorite 21 yr's ago. Has probably 50,000 round's with only an extractor replacement. Still shoot's as tight a group now as then. I can't ask for much more than that. Have had several offer's to buy it but as ragged as it is, [ compared to one's on here] it will never go anywhere else. I love it.lol
