Heard about site through a friend. Am researching M1911 for a French friend who has her father's. Might be special as he was at the formal German surrender ending the European WW2 war. Will post pics. later.

Seen the forum many times in the past while researching 1911s for a purchase. I have joined the forum today, so I can get some specific feedback on the Coonan 1911s and I look forward to learning more about 1911s in general.
Thanks for a great resource! |

Like many others, I was doing some research on various 1911's trying to decide on a particular one to buy. Been lurking and absorbing some great info for awhile, thought I'd speak up and say hey.

Looking for a particular holster for a Para and my search turned up one posted for sale here. I looked around and was impressed. (Bought the holster, by the way.)

From Eastern PA
Hi,
This is my 1st time post.....I've been researching a Model 1911 .45 and holster I got from my Dad. Serial number placed it from 1917. Was issued to a WWII serviceman who was injured in a crash in Gr. Britain...who gave it to my Dad's step dad (they were in a band together). Holster has serviceman's serial no. and name - I checked military records and they match. .45 look to be original - except for replaced clear plastic grips. Dad remembers firing it when he was a teenager approx 50-60 yrs ago. Where to from here? Is there a specific post I should try? I've always wanted a .45 and now that I have one I wonder if I can shoot it....do I need to get it professionally cleaned/restored? Are there any hidden issues with its transfer to me from my Dad (step actually)? Thanks in advance, Tom
