So per my other post I JUST bought the spec ops 9. Got it last night. Enjoyed the hell out of it at the range and packed to leave... On the way out, my bag snagged and out popped my Spec Ops which fell all the way from waist height (6'4") to the CONCRETE floor, corner of the nose first. I picked it up and husstled out in embarrassment as the entire staff knew I had just purchased my dream gun and all of whom witnessed my snafu. I approached my car thinking "s**t s**t s**t I am such an idiot etc..." I KNEW I had just mangled my new baby.
With a deep breath, I pull it out, inspect it with a fine tooth comb and.... Not one freaking blemish scratch dent or abbrasion. Not one. I believe this to be scientifically improbable due to the height and weight etc but low and behold, Wilson make a "boutique gun" (as reviewers have called it), that is actually bad to the bone with an incredibly resilient Armor Tuff finish. I applause you guys. And thank my lucky stars. That gun should have a blunted snout. It really should. |

I'm glad you got so lucky in this situation. I would have probably had a heart attack!
That is, until I saw that there was no damage.

"....waist height (6'4")..." Your waist height is 6'4"? Damn!!! how tall are you?...
glad, nothing happened to the gun. Yes, armor tuff is pretty tough...

Whew, I can understand the feeling at the moment. Thank goodness everything turned-out O.K.
![]() Perhaps we can all "learn" from this and, whenever possible, transport our favorite 1911s in a "bag within a bag" manner. I know this won't be "right" for everyone or in every situation, but when it's possible, why not. (This is what I normally do -- and this story encourages even more discipline).

Brother Wilson owner, I'm not at all surprised that your Wilson came through its fall unscathed. After all, it IS a Wilson! They are as tough as Marine Corps drill instructors. I've got a lovely crater in my hardwood floor from where my CQB TLE took a plunge. It's as fine as alligator fur. Enjoy and laugh it off!

My protector compact fell out of a shoulder holster while walking up a flight of stairs. It bounced down 7-8 steps (concrete with tread plates). One little scuff on the beaver tail is all the worse for wear.
Glad you Spec Ops 9 came out OK!

Don't mean to laugh but I did the same thing w/ my SpecOps9....had it in my backpack and forgot to zip it up....grabbed the pack and the gun went flying across my room (wood floor not concrete) and dented the heck out of my floor but the gun was fine...lol

I carry mine to & from the range in a hard plastic case. Just feel more comfortable that way! Never use the bag.

I carry mine to the range in a hard case inside my range bag. or holstered. now that I think of it I dont recall ever dropping any gun. seems right that the wilson would win against concrete.
