Anyone know where to get full wrap target grips for a Ruger Security Six?
I'm looking to replace a pair of old rubber Pachmayr grips with some new rubber square butt finger grips that cover the back strap like the old ones.
I've seen Hoags but the back strap isn't covered. There seems to be some complaints about fit also. Looks like some slim pickings for Ruger grips these days. |

Pachmayr still offer the "Gripper" in rubber.
This is a fully enclosed back strap with finger grooves: http://www.pachmayr.com/ Other than that, its Hogue because no one else still makes rubber revolver grips. |

I saw those, pretty much what I'm looking for but they look like they are made for a round butt frame. It must not be the correct photo or they are conversion grips. Guess I'll have to give them a call.

Pachmayr makes them for square butt frames and round butt. The outside appearance is the same.

Just awful.
I got the Pachmayr "Gripper" grips and they're pretty atrocious. It's mainly the fit - about a 1/16" gap along the bottom and front. There is an annoying ridge along the back strap seam and the material is more like plastic than rubber.
They give a phone number for questions about fit, the person said something about law enforcement requiring them to keep the serial # visible. It looks like the inside of the grip is not molded deep enough. It's a sad day when you can't get a US manufactured grip to fit a US manufactured gun. Last edited by Bob D.; 11-17-2009 at 11:09 AM. |

I thought according to federal code a firearm's serial number could be covered up, but not destroyed?

I just put some Hoag target grips on a new revolver and they cover the butt.
And since every revolver I own that came with target grips cover the serial # I'd say that's accurate. But permanently defacing the numbers however is a felonious no no. |
