Taurus 617 opinions

Can I get some opinions on the Taurus 617, seems pretty solid.. I like that it is 7 rounds and I can shoot .357 and the girlfriend can shoot .38. let me know what you guys think.

I bought one for my wife as her nightstand gun. Recoil isn't bad with the 357 mag, I got low recoil 38 specials for the wife.

When I told my dad I bought it he was like man those 357 are going to kill you, I let him shoot it and now he's thinking of getting one.

At 25' with a 2" barrel can hit center mass every time with a 3" grouping and I've just started shooting. Someone who is a seasoned shooting can probably do much better.

Being a retired gunsmith and working in gun sales I think you'd be better off with a Smith or Ruger. I've seen more problems with Taurus than either Smith or Ruger.
