You could cut the tip off a bit to get rid of the offending part, I think, and it should still work fine.

Yes, that is something I had not considered.

Anyway, the job is finished and I may never use that tool again. Sure glad I didn't pay Brownell's $34.94 plus shipping and then decide to build it. LOL

I don't stake any of my grip screws on the guns I do. I use LocTite 271 on the grip bushings after I degrease the bushings and frame very well. I have never had a return for a loose bushing by doing so. A person has to heat the frame/bushing in order to remove the bushing from the frame. Not a whole lot of heat, but just enough to loosen the LocTite.

I never put any LocTite on the grip screws or sight set screws. I can't imagine why a person would want to set the grip screws. That's just asking for trouble on removing the grips from the gun. The same with the sight set screw...especially when there is Tritium in a sight. That's asking for loosening the vial if an adjustment is ever needed.

On Grips, I just have a tightness that I feel. My thoughts are it only takes a few seconds to tighten a grip panel up should it go loose, but it takes a lot more effort to replace a grip panel if it were to crack.

Take care,
Bob

that's good to know. I was a bit worried if I was going to have a problem doing mine like that, but is sounds like the way to go.
