I've heard the spare wallet suggestion often before. I'm not in any way knocking it but I've been that close to too many BGs and don't think it is prudent for me. For someone with large potential and intent to do me harm I'm either not allowing them that close proximity or am creating distance to draw and fire if they did manage to get there. Of course, that's based upon my experiences and my own life; others will properly decide for themselves. The spare wallet concept would probably work for most... it's just that I've had many close calls and my nine lives are probably about up.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the bad guy would have shot the driver WAY before that window rolled up far enough to trap him. If the guy has the drop on you that badly, the smartest thing to do is just hand over your wallet. There's nothing in my wallet worth my kids losing their dad over.
