BHP Safety

My 1970's BHP is driving me up the wall.

Got a very good price on it and the gun looks like new, beautiful as can be. Even got the factory gun case & info pamphlet with it. Unfortunately the factory sear allowed the hammer to slip off full cock, so I bought a Cylinder & Slide replacement sear. Holds fine, unfortunately it allows the hammer to move a bit with the safety engaged - not enough to fall, just enough to move. Bought a C & S slightly extended safety, does the same thing.

So I have two safeties - one original, one new - and each has too much play. What do I do to correct?

BTW, I'm familiar with the function of the BHP safety - metal button on the safety lever sits against the flange on the left side of the sear. Does a spot of weld and hand fitting (like the 1911) cure this problem?

I have run into the same problem when using the stock hammer with a c and s safety. The fix was to install the c and s hammer as well. Or you can just weld it up.

Yes it will.
