Penetration Question

This seemed to be the best place to put this, so ill hope it doesnt get deleted.
I got to thinking today about all the scenes in tv/movies where the police shoot the BG's tire out. And so now im wondering if the 45acp would be able to penetrate a tire, or if a pressurized tire would even need to be fully penetrated for it to "blow". For obvious reasons, im not heading out to the range to go shoot at reflective targets. I have personally seen A mac truck tire shot out with a twelve guage, but i have no idea if they were using buck or slugs or whatever. does anyone have any thoughts on this.
