spring weight confusion
Hi all,
I have an earlier DW Patriot commander, with the external extractor I want to put a new spring in it. But my research, (spring sticky) created an ambuguity for me because I also read an earlier post. There is an earlier post with Dave S recommending a 16# spring, and there is the sticky thread saying they put 20# springs in the new ones they make today. My question is, what was the original recoil spring weight? thanks much in advance |

Anything from 16-22 will work. Find the one that feels best for the load you are shooting. If it's too light the slide will "bounce" against the frame, if to strong it will not cycle all the way and give you ejection/feeding problems. Too light will do the same because the slide will move so fast it bounces off the frame and actually moves faster than it should causing feed problems....just MHO.
